Beer and Civilizational Decline
God gave those who had to endure the collapse of civilization after the fall of Rome Monks who could make beer. In His incomparable love for us, he has once again provided.
Let me begin by saying that I don’t consider Bud Light to really be beer.. It gives me great pleasure that they find themselves losing market share, though I have to admit I don't really have a strong opinion regarding the specific controversy that led to this particular decline. I don't know who the person in question is, and I have long been contemptuous of that operation and their entire portfolio of “beer.” AB is responsible for all manner of deplorable acts and policies over the years, and as such I take great satisfaction in others noticing that they are a wicked and corrupt organization, regardless of the reason. That one of those over produced Ivy League globalist elites got caught in the cross-fire only makes the whole thing better to me.
That said, I'd like to take this opportunity to encourage everyone reading to begin trying the great beers that are out there in this great nation of ours. There has been a true renaissance in beer production in the Land of the Free, and it is worth reflecting for a moment on how fortunate we are to live in such times. I consider it strong evidence in support of The Almighty's loving mercy that he would allow this to happen during the collapse of Western Civilization. We at least get good beer to drink while watching the shit show.
Crafting a quality beer is both an art and a science. I know it is an art, because I've been able to make some good beers in my day. I know it is a science because I'm not really good at it at all. Fortunately for me, there are a lot of people in the Home of the Brave that are good at it, so I drink their beer. If I had to pick just one style of beer, I would demand trial by combat. Since that is apparently not legal anymore (learned that the hard way) I would probably pick the India Pale Ale. The good news is that I don't have to pick one style, so I will continue the journey of life enjoying all of the beer. Except for sours and fruit beers. I don't care for those. I appreciate them for what they are, but, like Early and Auburn, I don't particularly care for them.
Around my twenty first birthday I was hired to help open a brewpub and thus began my appreciation for quality beer. I'm ashamed to admit that, at the time, I thought Miller Genuine Draft was the best beer on the market. In my defense, there weren't a whole bunch of beers available in West Georgia and I had only just turned twenty-one, which meant I'd only had a few days to try what few beers were available. (Obviously, I never drank before it was legal for me to do so. Sarcasm font off.) This particular brewpub had a brew master from Oregon, and so he knew what good beer was. One of the few good things the west coast has given us is the craft beer revolution.
He made a particularly delicious red ale, and so I traveled down the rabbit hole of good Irish styles, opening my palate and deepening my understanding of the super-abounding grace of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This eventually led me to an appreciation for just how delicious hops could be, and even later towards the glorious flavors that yeast could produce. This long and winding road of styles and flavors caused me to one day stumble across a craft pilsner, which made me once again appreciate the value of a smooth light beer.
As you can see from this brief explanation of God'sGlory, there is much that can be explored in the world of beer. Each ingredient contributes to a complexity and subtlety unmatched in any other beverage. Wine snobs would scoff at me, but as any good beer nerd knows, beer is more complex than wine. It has more ingredients. Wine has it's place, to be sure, but beer is, as we all know, proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.
For all of the (quite warranted) weeping and gnashing of teeth surrounding the collapse of Western Civilization we are presently enduring, the Almighty, in his grace and mercy, has seen fit to allow the golden age of beer in our country to be a balm for our soul as we watch everything come unglued. In fact, craft beer is an opportunity to oppose the forces of darkness that seek to destroy us. Left and right, I think we can all agree that multinational corporations are a big part of the problem right now, and the big beer companies are among the worst of these corporations.
All that said, if you feel powerless in these apocalyptic days, go find a local brewery and sit down for a pint. It's a small protest that those of us otherwise without power can engage in while still enjoying ourselves. I mean, you should definitely cultivate your farming skills as well, but what good is a hard days work without a beer. And you will find someone at your local brewery who appreciates good beer, but otherwise is diametrically opposed to all you stand for. Beer is the common ground upon which you can build a friendship, and maybe even see things differently and help others open their own minds.
Our self declared betters do not want us to find common ground, because we are easier to tyrannize when we are divided. So have a pint made locally with others who drink locally. Perhaps you may find someone who appreciates carpentry while enjoying said pint. That is something our self declared betters definitely don't want us finding common ground on. After all, Jesus was a carpenter and most of the elites hate Jesus. Of course, they would do well to remember that the people who build guillotines are also carpenters, but that is a post for another day. Until next time, may your soup be warm, your beer be cold, and your bar tab affordable.
Dear sir..Hello! ... here to transparantly simply say enjoyed your fine commentary on beers with a Christian overview sensibility. We stopped any alcohol a while back tho we never. ever. throw rocks at anyone else who partakes We are Slavic non sectarian Pro 2,A non Isreal firster athletic intellectuals but absolutely American Christians
We welcome all genuine Christian oriented folk and had no disagreement with anything in the one article of yours we r dutifully read .That is notable because one woman who read a number of our posted articles liked us very much but then said elsewhere.."that Jesus Christ..The AllMighty....The one we live by....The Final Judge..never existed,....was a historical fiction,a myth!.Of course she did not address that "statement to Us". Women these days!*... In any case....We also ,years ago had an audio video expert friend who brewed craft beers in his basement.! God bless..God speed ..All best.**
Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment. I’m looking forward to reading your stuff as well. There are lots of good people in the beer world and home brew world, and can bring people with disparate interests together. As for the woman’s comment you mentioned-very strange, indeed. Everyone has their own views, I suppose, though. Once again, thanks!
